Pasted screenshots and big phone cameras

A screenshot can be pasted straight into a photo field, and photos from phones with a 48 or 50 megapixel camera are handled like every other photo.

• New Paste a screenshot or a copied image into any photo field with Ctrl+V.

  Adding a picture used to mean saving it as a file first and then finding that file again. Now a screenshot taken with Win+Shift+S, an image copied from a web page or a picture file copied on the computer can be pasted with Ctrl+V on a page with a photo field, such as a product’s edit page. It shows in the field straight away, ready to upload. Where a page has more than one photo field, click it or point at it first.

• New A new product can be given its first photo on the form that creates it.

  Photos could only be added to a product after it was saved, from its edit page. The create form now has a photo field too — pick a file, drop one on it, paste a screenshot, or press Take photo to use the camera, including a computer’s webcam — and more photos are still added on the edit page.

• New Create a product from a picture of its label on a computer too, including a pasted screenshot.

  Reading a label to fill in a new product was only on the phone. The create form on a computer now starts with Read the label: pick, drop or paste a picture — a screenshot of a supplier’s page works — or take one with the webcam, and the name, barcode, text and category fill themselves in for you to check. The picture becomes the product’s photo when you save. A reading opened from the list on a computer now opens this form.

• Fixed Photos over 30 megapixels are made smaller when they arrive and get a small copy for lists, so a list showing one loads quickly, and they can be turned.

  A photo from a phone with a 48 or 50 megapixel camera used to be kept at its full size: the lists drew the whole photo in every row, no small copy was ever made for it, and turning it was refused. Such photos are now made smaller when they arrive, like any other, and photos already stored get their small copy too.
