What is coming

What we are thinking about next

RobCo Depot is built one useful feature at a time. These are the ideas being worked on or considered — no dates, no promises, just what is on the list and why.

Planned and explored features

Planned

More label printers

DYMO, Brother QL and Phomemo are supported end to end. More brands are on the list so you can use the printer already on your bench.

  • Niimbot pocket label printers
  • Zebra ZPL-based desktop and industrial printers
  • Generic office printers on standard sheet label stock
  • Someone printing a real label on each supported brand, so the compatibility page can say verified rather than untested
Being considered

Say how big things are, not just how many

You can already say how many of something fits in a place - twenty filters in that drawer. What the app cannot work out is that the same drawer holds two hundred screws, because the answer is kept per thing rather than per space. Giving things a size or a weight would let a place have one answer instead of a list of them.

  • A size or a weight on a product, and a matching one on the place you keep it
  • One answer per shelf - how full it is - instead of one per kind of thing on it
  • A word before you put something down, if it will not fit alongside what is already there
  • Still a note and never a rule: nothing would be refused for being full, exactly as saying how many fit works today
  • Entirely optional, as it is now - most things are kept somewhere with room to spare, and never need measuring at all
In progress

Encrypt a site with your own key

Owning a warehouse already keeps it private to you. Encryption goes one step further: a secret only you hold, so the server itself cannot read what is stored.

  • A passphrase you choose, never stored — only a random salt and a verifier hash are kept
  • Location names, movement reasons and references, and count notes encrypted at rest
  • Unlock once per session; the key lives in that session and is never written to the database
  • Switch it on per site, so you can encrypt one and leave another readable
  • Turn it off again with the correct secret, and everything decrypts back to plain text

There is no recovery. Forget the secret and that site's data is permanently unreadable — by you, by us, by anyone. No reset, no backdoor, no support request can undo it. Write it down somewhere safe before you turn this on.

Plans, not promises

Everything on this page is an intention. Features may change shape, arrive in a different order, or be dropped if they turn out not to help the people using the app. Nothing here is a commitment to deliver by a date.
